Since opening our doors in 1999, owner and executive chef Mary Lee Newnham’s vision has been to be hospitable and to ensure that each and every guest leaves feeling better than when they arrived. Whether it’s brunch or lunch at our Market Bistro or catering a special event of 100, Emelle’s committed to creating a special dining experience, one guest at a time.
We believe it is the diversity and flexibility of our services that makes Emelle’s truly unique. Private picnics, corporate deliveries, weddings receptions, cocktail parties or holiday feasts, we apply the same dedication and expertise to a breakfast order of muffins and coffee, as we would to a four course plated dinner. It is our versatility and wealth of experience that allows our team of professional chefs, servers and event designers to offer our guests both exquisite cuisine and outstanding service every time.
MEET ML
Mary Lee Newnham has an accomplished history as a highly-reputable chef and event planner. As formal education she has obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Certified Management Accounting designation, as well as graduated from the Pierre Dubrulle Culinary School as an honour student.
Mary Lee has worked as a corporate, executive and private chef in a variety of restaurants, hotels, off-premise locations, yacht charters, convention and conference centers. As the executive chef for plaza catering and the atrium hotel, as well as cooking for such luminaries as Queen Elizabeth, Jean Chretien, Bill Gates, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart and Mel Gibson, Mary Lee has established herself as one of the premiere catering chefs in Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast.
